In a little house in the countryside there
lived an old lady with her thirteen cats.
People from the farms around saw the cats
and said, "She is a witch. Witches and cats
go together." The lady was happy with her
cats, but sometimes she thought, "I'd like to have a friend".

One day a man with his wife and their son
Tim moved into the house near the old lady's.
Tim also wanted to have a friend. He began
visiting the lady, and the two of them had a good time together.

Time came when the farmers remembered the
cats, because there were lots of rats on
their farms. "Witch or no witch, we want her
cats," they thought. The lady began giving
them her cats for two or three days. That was
great help, and the farmers paid her some money
for it. What did she do with the money? She
bought colour pencils for Tim who loved drawing.
His best pictures were those of the cats.

Она купила цветные карандаши для Тима, который
любил рисовать. Его лучшими рисунками были рисунки кошек.
